Nambucca Shire Council has purchased a Zeta Potential Mixer (ZPM) to fit in front of their continuously washed uplift filter, this sand filter is being used to clean wastewater before its treated with UV and released for irrigation.
When Nambucca Council’s Water and Sewage Manager was looking for the best way to introduce flocculants into the wastewater stream to increase the filters efficiency, he came across the ZPM on our website.
The ZPM is a cavitating static mixer used for injection of coagulants, flocculants, chlorine, ozone or any gas prior to media filtration by sand or Activated Filter Media (AFM) for potable water as well as wastewater. It cavitates the water and increases the oxidation potential by over 100mv, initiating disinfection without chemicals, the cavitation perfectly homogenizes the dosed chemical into the water. ZPM neutralizes the electrical charge ( Zeta Potential) on the dissolved chemical and colloids, which enhances the coagulation or flocculation process. These stainless steel static mixers are available in a wide range of sizes and are easy to install as they either flange, or screw directly into the pipework.
