The filters are available in a range of sises to suit requirements and use Activated Filter Media (AFM) as the filtration media as it will not bio-foul or channel as will sand. Also this media will last for the life of the filer and will never need changing. The whole design philosophy of this filtration system was to provide potable water in the most cost effective and trouble free way as possible.
